Aug. 7, 2015—The Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County is pleased to announce that Lucia Cape has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Economic Development at the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County.
“Lucia is a seasoned expert and a ‘natural’ in the economic development arena. Her technical and interpersonal abilities fit perfectly as the leading economic developer for the Chamber of Commerce. Her promotion is welcomed by the Chamber staff and our volunteer board of directors,” said Chamber Board Chair Rey Almodóvar.
In her role as Senior Vice President of Economic Development, Cape will continue to manage overall business recruitment, retention and expansion programs as well as the workforce development and education programs.
“I am honored by continued trust the Chamber has placed in me over the past nine years. Economic development is an exciting and fulfilling responsibility, and I appreciate the opportunity to be part of the growth of our region,” Cape said.
Prior to her promotion, Cape served as Vice President of Economic Development, working on a variety of Chamber projects since taking that position in 2013. Some of the high profile economic development projects Cape has worked on include Remington, Boeing Research and Technology Center, SES, Curse, and Polaris. Cape began her career at the Chamber in 2006 as the Vice President of Workforce where she was responsible for leading the community’s workforce recruitment efforts to support the 2005 BRAC which brought 4,700 new jobs to Redstone Arsenal.
